THE OPPORTUNITY
Investment Analysts (IAs) work closely as members of 3-4 person client teams in providing support producing investment materials and papers to our clients. Responsibilities include gathering and analysing historical asset allocation, spending, and performance data; evaluating financial histories; analysing investment managers’ portfolios; writing investment memos; preparing exhibits and other presentation documentation; and answering client questions and requests. In addition, analysts assist with performance reporting reconciliation, attribution analysis, and investment transactions on behalf of clients. This requires someone with attention to detail, an interest in investment markets, and willingness to contribute with high standards and professionalism within a small team.
Each IA is generally responsible for six to ten clients and handles several projects at once. Every IA is responsible for arranging his or her schedule and priorities in order to meet deadlines; however, there is a strong tradition of teamwork and cooperation among members of the Investment Analysts Group to help manage the workload. Although the position involves quantitative analysis, there is also a strong qualitative component as IAs work to describe market conditions and relay investment recommendations to clients in written reports. As senior professionals may be out of the office during periods of time for client meetings, analysts must be self-motivated and disciplined to maintain high personal and professional standards at all times due to the sophistication of our clients and the tight deadlines that can arise from time-to-time.
