Key job responsibilities
- Develop outstanding software systems for automating Amazon's network.
- Be part of the broader team that shapes the future automation of Amazon's Network.
- Present simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes
- Collaborate with our Network Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products.
- Create and refine documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material.
A day in the life
As an Engineer in NSS you will work closely with our customers, stakeholders and with your internal teams to define the roadmap, create services and respond to customer needs. You will build, maintain and grow a globally distributed specialized network intents based system, working closing with our Network designers in converting their intent for the global backbone into something that can be tested. You will focus on delivering hands-on engineering by developing several features and refine operational procedures. This will include identifying and resolving issues, as well as automating and improving repetitive processes. You will collaborate on software automation design, and to lead and mentor junior network engineers who are learning automation. You will become intimate with the architecture of our systems and be responsible for diving deep into code, while developing solutions for our customers and services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with distributed systems at scale
- Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering
- Experience in mentoring, leading, or managing more junior engineers
- Experience in communicating with executives to describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
