About the Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity to join the Metcash family as a Category Assistant. The successful candidate will be based in Heatherton and working for the Hardware pillar. You will provide support to the Category Manager, assist in planning as well as contributing to the efficient operation of the Merchandise Department. You will also assist the Business Unit Manager in relation to reports, correspondence and communications (internal and external). In this Role Masterfile Maintenance including price adjustments and general product file information. Co-ordination and administration of catalogue and digital promotional submissions, loading promotional files and administration of samples/images. Assist with major promotional programs to drive sales, including planning & liaising with various departments within the business and the member network to ensure successful execution. Preparing analysis work for category reviews as required by the Category Manager. Monitoring stock levels on promotional lines and import ranges. Manage store communications via Store Bulletins and dedicated Range Brochures. Conduct competition check analysis on applicable products/categories as required. Assisting with Events such as the Annual Expo. Liase with and maintain positive relationships with both local and import suppliers. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business (inventory, ranging, marketing, promotions, finance, supply chain, Customer Service). Form part of "Project Teams" as required. You're Likely a Match If Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical ability & attention to detail. Effective time and resource management skills. Ability to show initiative. Customer-focused with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities. Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experienced in developing and maintaining quality systems (database).
