About the role
With the rapid growth of our Merits Review and Administrative Law practice, we are seeking an Associate to join our team in Melbourne. This is a truly varied role, which will see you working across a variety of matters. Whilst the main focus will be NDIS, you will also have the opportunity to work across other practice areas where you will gain experience in workers’ compensation, personal injury, employment law, and occupational health and safety, making this an invaluable opportunity for a lawyer seeking to progress their career. Additionally, this role will see you working directly with a Partner, and closely with team members from Melbourne and our national offices who have a genuine interest in and passion for law and mentoring. The work requires attention to detail, practical problem solving skills and strategic thinking. This is a real opportunity to build on your existing skills and gain exposure to a broad range of practice areas.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be an Associate level lawyer with experience or an interest in statutory schemes, including NDIS and workers’ compensation. We also invite applications from candidates with less experience who otherwise meet the criteria. An interest in litigation and alternative dispute resolution involving appearances at tribunals and Courts is essential. The work requires attention to detail, practical problem-solving skills, initiative, and strategic thinking. We are also looking for someone with a good sense of humour and a desire to work closely with a national group of high energy and hardworking successful lawyers.
Other qualities which we are looking for include:
* Enthusiasm and initiative
* The ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines, as well as compliance with reporting requirements
* Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Importantly, due to the sensitive nature of the work and the people it involves, you will have a versatile communication style. The ability to communicate with a variety of different people from varied backgrounds, where an understanding of personal situations is of value.
There are strong prospects for advancement in a growing national team, and whilst the reporting Partner is based in Melbourne, this role can be performed remotely and may therefore suit someone who resides in regional Victoria and interstate.
