ERV is a business unit within the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Working directly with impacted communities, all levels of government, agencies and industry, ERV coordinates real, effective and timely support that communities need to recover after a major emergency.What will the role do?The Senior Regional Relief and Recovery Officer is an integral part of ERV's regional coordination team, which leads divisional and regional planning for relief and recovery response during and after a disaster.In this role, you will primarily be part of a team based in Barwon South West; however, it is expected you will have the capability and capacity to work across multiple geographical areas to support relief and recovery operations and be able to be deployed by ERV (sometimes at short notice) to support relief and recovery operations in other areas of Victoria. You may be required to work outside of normal business hours and on operational rosters or standby arrangements.Some responsibilities include:Actively contribute to the research and problem solving of issues and evolving policy to address challenges in relief and recovery by collaborating with peers and stakeholders, ensuring emerging issues are identified and resolved in accordance with statutory responsibilities, emergency management and recovery governance arrangements, and government policy.Stakeholder engagement and relationship building is key, as you assist local governments to optimise community outcomes including by assisting them to understand and excel at relief and recovery funding protocols and processes.What skills and knowledge should a Senior Regional Relief and Recovery Officer have?Working effectively in situations under pressure, you will have the capacity to work across a wide range of agencies and communities, be a trusted relationship builder, have the ability to project manage, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, be highly motivated, passionate and have the ability to forward plan in a highly complex environment.You will be a self-motivated and committed individual, with initiative and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work proactively to ensure the best use of time. You will have excellent administrative and organisational skills, as well as exceptional relationship management capability in order to liaise with a range of government, non-government and community stakeholders.You will also have strong planning and report writing skills, and highly developed interpersonal skills. Experience working directly with diverse community groups and across multiple levels of government and shared service providers is desirable, as is experience and familiarity with community resilience and the delivery of trauma-informed relief and recovery practices.Please note, a full Victorian driver's licence is required due to the need to respond to emergencies across the State at short notice and outside business hours as required.
