In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting healthcare records in line with Australian Coding Standards. As a Senior Clinical Coder, you will have high level Clinical coding skills and knowledge across a broad range of specialities in a tertiary setting.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Timely and accurate completion of clinical coding using ICD-10-AM, ACHI and the provision of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG’s); adhere to the Australian Coding Standards when interpreting documentation for coding purposes and seek guidance from the Coding Manager where needed.Liaise with clinicians and other health professionals to clarify and seek further information when documentation is ambiguous to identify the highest specificity.Ensure that appropriate throughput of coding is achieved in line with local and wider benchmarks and strive to achieve these on a daily basis. This is generally 30-35 records per day average throughput.Ensure a high standard of coding reflective of the grading of this position and substantial experience.Participate in internal and external coding education sessions as advised by the Coding Manager.ABOUT YOU:HIMAA certification in Clinical Coding- Introductory ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS Clinical Coding Course (or equivalent) and/or Intermediate ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS Clinical Coding course (or equivalent) and/or Diploma of clinical coding and/or Bachelor of Health Information ManagementMinimum of 2-4 years’ experience in abstracting and coding across a wide casemix in a private or public health facilityHighly developed knowledge of anatomy, Clinical disease processes, pharmacology, and pathophysiology, diagnostic and procedural terminology.Sound and updated knowledge of ICD-10-AM 12th edition, National and local coding standards.Advanced understanding of DRG and ABF principles as they apply to clinical codingGood organisational, verbal and written communication skills and able to work quietly and efficiently with exceptional attention to detailProven ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet throughput targetsDemonstrated computer literacy and knowledge of relevant hospital-based information systemsAbility to maintain the strictest confidentiality in all work mattersHOW DO YOU APPLY?Click ‘Apply for Job’ and follow the prompts.
