Applications are sought for a teacher to work at our Don Valley campus to fill a Family Leave Position.
The School for Student Leadership (Trading as The Alpine School) is an exciting and unique year-nine specialist school. The school has been operating for 24 years and more than 10,000 students have participated in that time. It currently consists of four campuses in regional Victoria, including:
Alpine School Campus, Dinner Plain.
Snowy River Campus, Marlo.
Gnurad-Gundidj Campus, Noorat-Glenormiston.
Don Valley Campus, Don Valley.
Forty-five students live, learn, work, and undertake adventures in a highly supported leadership education program. The school has modelled its educational program on an Experiential Education model, focusing on project/inquiry learning and social enterprise.
A highly developed curriculum relates to the Victorian Curriculum F-10 Capabilities, with an extensive outdoor, environmental, and adventure education program embedded in the learning experience.
Roles and Responsibilities Specific to the Setting
The role requires a flexible, enthusiastic, and team-oriented approach. Key responsibilities include:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students.
Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum areas.
Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions.
Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties as determined by the School Principal.
Selection Criteria
SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2: Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high-impact teaching strategies.
SC3: Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning.
SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
SC5: Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
SC6: Demonstrated knowledge, skills, or experience in teaching year-nine students away from usual school settings.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum area(s).
Conditions of Employment
This vacancy is to replace an employee on parental absence and is for a period of seven years or until the employee absent on leave returns to duty at the school.
