The Role Reporting to the IT Engineering Manager, the Senior Linux Systems Administrator is part of a highly visible team delivering complex solutions to a global organization. In addition to supporting day-to-day systems operations, the Senior Linux Systems Administrator is required to perform the system analysis and design necessary to install various systems and maintain high levels of security, data protection and performance. The Senior Linux Systems Administrator, along with other members of the IT Engineering team will play a critical role in helping AspenTech further define its system, network, and security strategy across our global organization using Scalability, Automation, Cloud First, and Zero Trust as guiding themes. This role will require you to solve complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions; regularly work on moderately complex/mid-sized projects, analysis and activities. Your Impact Operational Support: responsible for day-to-day support and advancement of our global Linux infrastructure. This includes areas such as user account and access management, high performance computer clusters, NFS storage, Lustre filesystems, NIS, and autofs. Server administration: Administer IT Linux systems like NiceDCV, SFTP, patching, backups, maintenance and repair. VMWare administration: Create, deploy and manage Linux VMs for R&D and Customer Support business units. Maintain and patch vCenter and ESXi hosts. Script administration: Develop and maintain shell, batch and other scripts that are used in IT business processes. Documentation: document deployed environments, including topology diagrams, SOPs, and technical communications. Change Management: Ensure that standardized methods, processes, and procedures are used for all changes, and maintain the proper balance between the need for a change and the detrimental impact of a change. What You'll Need 5-8 years of experience. Associates or bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or Engineering fields. RedHat Certifications like RHCE and RHCA will be considered an advantage. Experience with RedHat Linux operating systems and derivatives. Windows knowledge is a plus. Experience with managing NetApp filers. Experience with managing Lustre filesystems will be considered a plus. Experience with Infiniband networking will be considered a plus. Communication skills – both oral and written are crucial to this role. Ability to work closely with members of the IT Engineering team, end users and stakeholders.
