Your New Role
As a Residential Care Worker, you will play a critical role in supporting young people aged 12-17 who cannot live with their families due to child protection orders. You will work as part of a team to provide around-the-clock care, building positive relationships with young people and your fellow team members.
Daily Tasks
Some of your daily tasks may include:
* Building positive relationships with young people and your fellow team members
* Following a routine developed specifically for a young person's needs
* Transporting young people to and from school, day programs and appointments
* Completing activities and enjoying mealtimes together
* Assisting in the implementation of programs designed for growth and development of young people
* Completing summary notes
* Helping create a safe and homely environment for them to live in and enjoy.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential criteria:
* Current Working with Children Check (for paid employment)
* Current First Aid Certificate (Provide First Aid; Course Code HLTAID003)
* National Police Check (this must be obtained via https://www.employmentscreeninggroup.com/au/allambi/)
* International Police Check for applicants who have lived continuously for 12 months or more in another country within the last 10 years.
* A current driver's licence
* Willingness to participate in a Worker/Carer Exclusion Scheme Check
* Current NDIS Worker Check (can be obtained via https://www.service.vic.gov.au/services/national-disability-insurance-scheme)
Qualifications
The employee is required to be enrolled in/undertaking or hold, either:
* Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention;
* A recognised relevant qualification (if you are unsure please ask).
Mandatory Units of Competency
All residential care workers must complete the three mandatory units of competency, being:
* CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma informed care
* CHCPRT009 – Provide primary residential care
* CHCCCS009 – Facilitate responsible behaviour
