YOUR NEW ROLE
As the Research Manager you will be responsible for delivering a business-wide customer research program, developing a deep understanding of current and potential audiences and visitors.
Understanding the requirements of many stakeholders, the successful candidate will design and deliver quantitative and qualitative research surveys to provide insights that inform strategy and decision-making. With strong data skills, you will analyse and interpret data from multiple sources to extract insights and communicate findings in an engaging way. To maximise research insights, you will work closely with the Insights team to integrate survey data into business reporting tools.
The Research Manager will have the opportunity to work directly with a diverse range of stakeholders, giving them exposure to the many different work streams within the Opera House – from the creative Performing Arts portfolio to the dynamic Visitor Experiences & Engagement portfolio and more. The Research Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring that Sydney Opera House is audience-centred and fulfilling our ambition to be Everyone's House.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced research professional to take a leading role in helping to embed an informed, data-driven culture at an Australian icon and contribute to the performing arts in Australia.
ARE YOU THE ONE?
We are looking for someone with:
1. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in research, statistics and/or data analysis, preferably within events and experiences.
2. Experience managing large-scale research projects such as Brand Tracking and Voice of Customer.
3. Tertiary qualifications in statistics, mathematics or similarly relevant fields.
4. A foundational understanding of databases, data structures and ETL processes.
5. A creative and curious mind with a love of experimentation and problem-solving.
6. Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
7. Strong teamwork skills. Someone that works well in a collaborative environment with strong listening skills.
8. A history of innovation and diplomacy; questioning the status quo to successfully initiate change that is embraced.
9. Proficiency in Tableau or similar and SQL preferred (but not essential).
