The Burdekin Association is a community-based not-for-profit organisation. We use innovative and industry-leading support practices to help guide young people aged 9-24 to fully functional adulthood. Our priority is to prevent youth homelessness and family breakdown by providing a range of accommodation, care and support services to young people and their families across Greater Sydney.The Role Must be willing to work in The Eastern Suburbs, from 2.30pm-6.30pm Monday-Friday. The ideal candidate will provide person-centered support and engage with young people in a range of activities to assist them to develop their skills within and outside their home. They will work sensitively, professionally and with confidentiality when engaging with young people, carers, family and other support networks. The DutiesSupporting a Carer with 5 children aged 8-13 yearsWillingness to assist with school pickup, domestic duties and cookingEngage with young people in a range of activities to assist them to develop their skillsSupport, supervise, organise, and participate in activities with young people within and outside of the homeWork with young people and carers in developing young people's living skillsParticipate engagement in social activities and addressing any additional needs (i.e. mental health, behavioural)Work sensitively, professionally and with confidentiality when engaging with young people, carers, family and other support networksEssential RequirementsComfortable driving a small vanHave an ABN or willing to obtainMinimum completed Certificate 3 in relevant Youth, childcare or Community Service fieldMinimum 1 year of experience working in a similar role with childrenExperience Working with vulnerable young people who have experienced significant trauma and understanding how this effects their behaviour and emotional needsExperience using a therapeutic approach to de-escalate challenging behaviourCurrent Working with Children Check and Police Check; or willingness to obtainCurrent Driver's LicenseIf you are looking to join a supportive and passionate team, wanting to support young people to reach their full potential, apply now!
