Community Engagement Advisor – Major Projects
Location: Parramatta Head Office location with infrastructure projects based in the South-Western Sydney and Western Sydney suburbs (Hybrid working arrangements).
About the role
The role of Community Engagement Advisor is to support a ‘customer at the heart’ approach for meaningful engagement across all stakeholders including community, local councils, government agencies, developers and our customers.
You will deliver against our communication and engagement priorities to ensure we meet Major Project business goals and Sydney Water’s vision.
Specifically, this role is heavily focused around the effective development and delivery of community and stakeholder engagement plans for Major Projects (over $100m).
Responsibilities
* Prepare and support the implementation of complex communication and engagement strategies to promote the project, protect reputation, manage issues and deliver successful programs.
* Build and maintain effective and influential relationships across all stakeholder segments including community, private sector, government agencies, internal and customer.
* Communicate stakeholder and community awareness and risk minimisation programs.
* Collect community and stakeholder information to identify their needs and activities, including collating data, analysis, focus groups and surveys.
* Respond to escalate complaints and enquiries and feedback from a variety of channels and oversee complaint response by partners.
About you
* 5+ years’ experience in community engagement, stakeholder engagement or corporate affairs, in a complex environment experiencing change.
* A strong understanding of the complexity of a Major Project and the larger community and stakeholder plans required for projects of a larger size.
* Creative thinker with demonstrated ability to develop strong and trusted relationships and influence key stakeholders (internal and external).
* Sound planning, influencing, negotiation, facilitation and issues and crisis management skills.
Essential requirements
* Degree qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations, community engagement or related discipline or relevant experience.
* Completion of or progress towards International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Certificate.
* Current NSW Drivers Licence.
* Required travel to South-Western Sydney and Western Sydney suburbs.
