Position Overview:

We are seeking to fill the Director, Curatorial and Collection Research (Commissioned) (EL2) for a period of 12 months.
Working closely with two other curatorial directors, you will be responsible for proactively shaping and building the national collection.
As a senior leader in the branch and organisation, you will provide strategic direction to the Curatorial and Collection Research Section by developing business priorities and project plans.
Applying your specialist knowledge and expertise, you will have specific responsibility for developing Australia's largest oral history collection, commissioning documentary photography to support the capture of contemporary Australian events, activities, and people, and making curatorial decisions for the Australian Web Archive.
This leadership role is integral to building and sustaining relationships with a network of people and organisations to enhance the Library's collections, including oral historians, photographers, publishers, creators, vendors, specialist organisations, and key individuals, as well as Library colleagues.
You will provide specialist curatorial expertise and advice in the development of Library programs and campaigns and represent the Library in a range of forums, including writing and presenting papers, and in the media.
Minimum Requirements:
Hold qualifications or equivalent experience in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Have curatorial experience in the Australian cultural heritage sector.
The Opportunity:
The role is only available to ongoing National Library of Australia and APS employees as a temporary transfer at level and/or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity from 16 December 2024 until 22 January 2026.
