About the opportunity
The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) team is looking for a motivated Senior Ruby on Rails Software Engineer/Developer to join their high performing team. In your new role, you will lead the development of critical software components and applications. You will drive architectural design, implement advanced testing methodologies and execute software deployments. You will also ensure comprehensive technical documentation for software projects.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
* lead the development of critical software components and applications
* implement advanced testing methodologies and rectify bugs and errors
* take a lead role in planning and executing software deployments
* ensure comprehensive technical documentation for software projects
* engage and build strong relationships with stakeholders, facilitating discussion to address concerns and gather feedback, ensuring alignment with work area goals
* manage work area reporting and compliance ensuring accurate information on university systems and adherence to work area requirements
* coordinate and manage risk assessment activities within the work area, prioritising workplace health and safety and ensuring consistent alignment with university guidelines and best practices.
About you
* exceptional skills and sound experience in software design and web development using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and databases including MySQL and Oracle, with at least 3 years’ experience.
* strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement, along with the ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
* excellent interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, including effective management of stakeholder relationships, commitment to ensure service excellence
* demonstrated experience in prioritising your own and your team workload to meet competing and ad hoc demands
