In your role as a Survey Assistant, you will be tasked with providing efficient and effective survey technical services.
Duties include: Assisting the surveyor in field surveys including the compilation of and storage/recording and set-out of spatial data.Assisting in applying modelling techniques to meet project requirements.Assisting in undertaking basic data processing operations.Providing technical support to the Surveyor on survey projects using your technical knowledge, expertise, and leadership to contribute to all relevant activities to achieve successful completion of projects in scope, time, quality, cost, and stakeholder expectations.Accountabilities include: Applying contemporary project management and survey principles, relevant to your level of experience and expertise.Assisting in the application of all relevant standards, policies, guidelines, and legislative requirements necessary for the surveying of road infrastructure projects.Contributing to a safe work site by applying risk management principles and following OH&S procedures.Under the direction of the Surveyor, working as part of a team on surveys required for road infrastructure projects.Under supervision, setting up and operating survey equipment such as EDME and GPS.Working within the department's systems including project documentation, quality assurance, and archiving and retrieving data as directed.Participating in training and development in association with the Graduate Surveyors and Cadet Technologists on standards, work practices, processes, and survey techniques to ensure value for money and best practice are achieved.Actively participating in process improvement.Maintaining effective liaison and communication with the surveyor and the survey team on all matters relating to the execution of the survey.Assisting in analysing, interpreting, and reporting on data from the systems using appropriate reporting and software presentation tools.Assisting in the interpretation of image data.Skills & Experience: Current First Aid and CPR training.Open driver's license and white card required.It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. They will display initiative, attention to detail, and have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives.
