Supporting an existing team of Electrical Engineers, providing your technical knowledge and expertise to support the ongoing maintenance periods for the platforms. This will include liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, with potential travel to other sites.Day-to-day, you'll form part of the wider Commissioning Group that undertakes complex initial checks, functional testing, and trials on the Royal Navy's Submarines during maintenance periods.Responsible for carrying out a range of commissioning activities including inspection, trials and testing, fault finding diagnosis and proposing corrective solutions where required.Production of test documentation, the use of technical drawings to support the work carried out on board and identification/recording of defects and deficiencies.Build and maintain close working relationships with the other Commissioning Groups, Production teams, Ship staff and members of the MoD.Ensure that all activities conform to professional engineering standards, quality, nuclear and submarine safety constraints.Act as Test Director at times during commissioning activities which can also include the management of other commissioning engineers and industrial staff.This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.Essential experience of the Electrical Commissioning Engineer:Previous experience of maintenance/commissioning/electrical installationAbility to work safely on live electrical systems when necessary including fault finding and diagnosticsCompetent at operating computer systems and databasesDetailed knowledge of control of work and safe isolation of electrical systemsMust be able to access and egress to Submarine confined spaces and restrictive areas.Qualifications for the Electrical Commissioning Engineer:Electrical Apprenticeship level 3 or equivalent experienceSecurity ClearanceThe successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
