About the Role
There is a strong focus on 3D and contrast echocardiography. A suitable candidate for this position should have completed or be in the process of completing advanced training in Cardiology as per the training guidelines of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
The Cardiac Imaging Fellow oversees the day-to-day operation of the Echocardiography Laboratory and provides medical services to patients presenting to the hospital, both in- and outpatients, within the designated unit of the Department of Cardiology. On request, the Fellow should provide a consultative service to other departments. The Fellow is required to participate in the general cardiology after hours on-call roster and to attend the Cardiology Outreach Clinic along with the Visiting Cardiologists on a regular basis. The Fellow will also undertake a term rotation to Logan Hospital during their fellowship year to obtain further training in cardiac CT and experience in cardiac MRI.
The Fellow will be responsible for organising and presenting at the weekly Echocardiography Teaching Sessions and the annual Cardiac Imaging Audit. It is also expected that the Fellow will be involved in the professional development of junior medical staff, education of medical students, and undertake research activities.
