Description
The UHD Scholars Academy is dedicated to undergraduate academic excellence and success in science, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We undertake many strategies to ensure each scholar's success. Tutors support scholars who exhibit the academic ability and leadership qualities of role models for other scholars to emulate, working collaboratively with Scholars Academy Faculty Mentors and staff. These leaders serve as role models, advocates, and knowledgeable guides to our scholars.
Duties:
* Provides tutoring to students in STEM; Natural Sciences, Math, Data Science, Computer Science, and Engineering Technology.
* Attends the Scholars Academy Meetings and Training.
* Serves as a Scholars Academy role model and maintains personal, respectful contact with all assigned to the facilitator. This contact needs to be at least twice monthly by phone or in person.
* Works at least six hours a week.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
* Must be a current member of the Scholars Academy or have the permission of the Executive Director of Scholars Academy and/or Mitsue Nakamura.
* Must meet with Dr. Mary Jo Parker and/or Mitsue Nakamura for recommendation requirements for the position.
* Current full-time UHD student preferred.
