The City of Mandurah has an exciting position available for someone wanting to pursue a career as a swim teacher. The trainee will learn and assist the swim school team in teaching swimming and water safety skills to children and assist with administrative and customer service duties.
Earn while you learn!
We will support you in achieving a Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation (SIS30122), Swim Teacher qualifications and Bronze Medallion. You will receive on the job training from experienced team members. The City will pay for the training fees as well as your wages.
Skills needed for the job?
* School leavers: OLNA or NAPLAN 9 Band 8
* Non-school leavers: C Grades in Year 10 English and Maths or a completion of a Certificate II in a related discipline
* Competent and strong swimmer with the ability to pass at a Bronze Medallion level
* Reasonable level of fitness
* Current C class national driver’s licence or progress towards
* Confident and professional communication skills both verbal and written
* Ability to motivate and work with a diverse range of people including children and adults
* Excellent presentation
* Team player and ability to work well individually
* Excellent time management skills, organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively
* Able to follow instructions
* Demonstrated competence in the use of computers including Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Packages
* Reliable and self-motivated
The finer details
The traineeship will be located at the City’s Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre, 303 Pinjarra Road, Mandurah. The traineeship can either be completed full-time over a 12 month period or part-time over a 24 month period. The trainee may be required to work evenings and on weekends. The position attracts a salary range of $36,128 to $57,097 gross per annum dependent on age.
