About the opportunity
The Broken Hill Rural Clinical School (RCS), also known as the Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (UDRH), is funded under the Commonwealth Department of Health's Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program.
Our focus at the BHUDRH is to lead the design and delivery of innovative teaching and learning environments for medical, nursing and allied health students undertaking their placement in our region. We also actively work to improve the quality of health care for rural, remote and First Nations Peoples by fostering local and regional collaborations and enhancing national expertise in rural and remote health research and the translation of research into policy and practice.
We are seeking a Senior Lecturer - Allied Health Lead. This is an important role supporting the Head of Rural Clinical School by leading the strategic direction of the Allied Health portfolio across the department's geographically distributed campuses located in Bourke, Broken Hill and the Dareton/Wentworth region. The position will provide carriage for the delivery of high-quality multi-disciplinary learning and teaching across the Allied Health Programs.
You will also assist the Head of the RCS and Senior Leadership Team in fostering collaborative cross-sector relationships, including Allied Health community and organisational relationships.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Support the HoRCS by leading the strategic direction of the Allied Health portfolio, ensuring alignment with broader organisational goals while prioritising integrity and meaningful community engagement.
Develop and strengthen partnerships with external Allied Health agencies and collaborations.
Provide informed advice and insights to senior leadership on Allied Health engagement strategies.
Advocate for and advance Allied Health research within the rural and regional health perspective.
Undertake a leadership role in Allied Health educational innovation, curriculum design and review, contributing to outstanding educational delivery and outcomes for the portfolio.
Engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University's expectations and standards for education.
Design and deliver quality educational experiences that support student needs, meeting curriculum requirements for the Allied Health portfolio.
Build and maintain a national reputation for excellence in Allied Health scholarship through professionally relevant research and publication.
About you
Doctorate or PhD or equivalent experience in rural health.
Current registration or equivalent in a health discipline.
Regionally and/or nationally recognised for Allied Health leadership and commitment to research.
Demonstrated understanding of rural, remote and First Nations health.
Experience in supervising and mentoring others.
Demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives.
A developing network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders in Allied Health research and teaching.
Experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in a variety of settings.
