HOPE Senior Clinician - Bairnsdale/Orbost
Based in Gippsland, Latrobe Regional Health are looking for a HOPE Senior Clinician to join our Mental Health HOPE team on a part time, ongoing basis.
Reporting clinically to the Specialist and Therapeutic Programs Manger and operationally to the area managers, this role plays an important role in supporting persons at risk of death by suicide, those who express suicidal ideation, or post suicide attempt and/or repeated intention self-harm, within the catchment area or Latrobe Regional Health Mental Health Service.

The successful applicants will be required to:
6. Undertake a range of psycho social interventions and therapies that address drivers of suicidality for a period of 3 months using focused psychological strategies. This may also include psycho-education, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Skills training, Interpersonal therapeutic strategies or narrative therapy and Optimal Health Program.
7. Engage high risk groups such as people who are indigenous, men, women, youth older persons, LGBTIQ+, CALD and those affected by natural disasters and COVID 19
8. Provide intake and access functions that prioritise and respond to referrals within 24 business hours
9. Develop client engagement through a combination of face to face, email, telephone, videoconferencing or Skype contact
10. Provide comprehensive suicide and self-harm assessment for all clients on referral from ED, general hospital wards or community teams
11. Complete risk formulations that identify risks and develop suicide safety plans that focus on the drivers of suicidality and lethal means interventions
12. Provide coordination and referral of persons for psychosocial and peer support, or partnering organisations including the Way Back Support Service
We are looking for candidates with:
13. Relevant clinical experience in mental health service with well-developed organisational skills
14. Expertise in assessing and formulating suicide and self-risk and then developing safety plans that address suicide drivers and lethal means interventions
15. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to collaboratively consult and liaise with other consumers, carers, staff members and other relevant agencies
16. A strong commitment to providing consumer and family focused mental health care
17. Ability to provide leadership, advocate and think creatively to develop innovative ways of providing mental health care to meet consumer and carer needs
18. Expertise in the delivery of collaborative care in partnership with consumers and carers
19. Knowledge and commitment to utilising family friendly, trauma informed and recovery-based models of care.
20. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external organisations, peer and lived experience workers
21. Working knowledge of NSQHS and National Standards for Mental Health Services
22. Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014 and other relevant legislation
23. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
