The Role Join WRM Water & Environment and advance a technical, hands-on career in Water Resources Engineering in our Brisbane or Darwin office. You will tackle crucial challenges around flooding, stormwater drainage, water management, and water quality. From day one, you will be involved in data analysis, and developing hydrologic, hydraulic, and water management models for a range of major infrastructure, mining, development, and floodplain management projects. With structured training and a mentorship program for technical and career guidance, you will be supported to advance through to RPEQ certification and beyond. The start date is flexible from November 2025 to January 2026. If you're still studying, we can also offer the opportunity for paid casual work (e.g. 1 day per week and more during university holidays) to provide valuable work experience before transitioning to full-time employment. Typical projects you will be involved in include: modelling flood behaviour, assessing water quality impacts, water management plans, managing stormwater drainage, environmental compliance, water balance modelling, and designing engineering infrastructure such as levees and river diversions. The main software programs you will be trained to use includes TUFLOW, URBS, GOLDSIM, QGIS, 12D, and Python. With a degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering, you will have: Strong numerical aptitude with high attention to detail. Familiarity with, or a willingness to learn, TUFLOW, URBS, GOLDSIM, QGIS, 12D, and Python. Good interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork. Exposure to CAD software such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D would be an advantage but is not essential. You will be technically minded and inquisitive, interrogating every result.
