We strengthen regional and rural economies by supporting job creation, diversification, and infrastructure development, collaborating closely with local communities to address their unique needs.About The RoleAs a member of the Indigenous Land Operations (ILO) team within Native Title and Indigenous Land Services (NT ILS), you will have a lead role in Indigenous land tenure matters, including policy and procedure development, analysis and implementation; and operational activities relating to the Aboriginal Land Act 1991, the Torres Strait Islander Land Act 1991, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Land Holding Act 2013 and the Land Act 1994 .You will have an opportunity to undertake investigations of State land tenure issues, evaluate State land for its most appropriate tenure, and implement the agreed tenure actions following registration of any Indigenous Land Use Agreement.NTILS works to enable access to land for Aboriginal people and Torres Islander people particularly concerned with certain land through the transfer of land (such as unallocated state land and Aboriginal reserves), and leads the negotiation, development and implementation of Indigenous Land Use Agreements. NT ILS objective is to deliver fair, consistent and repeatable approaches, as we work towards reframing the relationship with Aboriginal people and Torres Islander people.About YouYou'll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to manage multiple complex projects and business processes. Previous experience in engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and an understanding or knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People cultures is essential. While not mandatory (we're big on capacity to build and learn!), any experience in the ability to interpret relevant legislation and/or policy would be highly regarded. Any knowledge in the use of Microsoft 365 applications, SharePoint, and land databases such as ATS and QLD Globe would be highly regarded, however, we're fully prepared to teach where required to fill gaps!Why join us?We are committed to being a workplace that focusses on people.
