ABOUT GUNDITJMARA ABORIGINAL COOPERATIVE
Incorporated in 1982, Gunditjmara Aboriginal Cooperative is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) that provides a range of holistic community health and social support programs, principally to the Aboriginal community and other residents in Warrnambool and outlying areas.
We work in close partnership with local government, other health service providers including other Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations in the Western District of Victoria, liaising regularly on the provision of health service and social welfare and community support programs.

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT
The Independent Living team provides support to our Elders, people with a disability and their carers to stay connected to community, country, and culture.
Our Home Maintenance Workers support clients to:
1. Live healthy, independent and active lives
2. Remain at home safe and supported
Through maintaining their home environment. We provide services for clients under the Commonwealth Home Support Program, Home and Community Care Program for Younger Persons, Home Care Packages and National Disability Insurance Scheme. Service provision may be long term or short term as part of the wellness and restorative approach utilised by Gunditjmara and guided by client service agreements and care plans.
Services are culturally appropriate and delivered safely within strict guidelines of OH&S and in line with the Aged Care Quality Standards, NDIS Practice Standards and the Wellness and Reablement Model.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION
Provide direction and support for the Home Maintenance team members. Assist the Maintenance Team Leader with coordinating and managing the Independent Living Home Maintenance program.
The Independent Living Maintenance portfolio includes:
1. Client Home Maintenance – Mowing, edging, spraying, gardening
Provided under the following funding:
1. HACCPYP
2. CHSP
3. NDIS
4. Home Care Package/Brokerage
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Create an environment where the Independent Living Home Maintenance Team takes pride in the high-quality service provided
2. Actively develop the skills, competencies and knowledge of team members by ‘showing them how’
3. Adopt a ‘safety first’ culture, ensuring all risks are identified and reported to the Maintenance Team Leader
4. Delegate tasks and accountabilities within the Independent Living Home Maintenance team, as required
5. Ensure materials and supplies are always available for Independent Living Home Maintenance team activities and services. This may include the ordering and collection of materials, etc.
6. Support and promote continuous improvement within the GAC Independent Living team to build capacity and capability in the team workforce to deliver high quality care services.
7. Work to client’s care plans utilising “Wellness and Reablement” criteria.
8. Record and manage all relevant matters that involve a client’s environment, including all OH&S issues and client changes.
9. Ensure that all home maintenance service records and data is recorded in accordance with GAC requirements.
10. Support the Maintenance Team Leader to meet accreditation and compliance requirements.
