The role involves coordination and teaching delivery of both undergraduate and postgraduate units across a variety of study modes in our agricultural science and agribusiness courses, with a focus on precision agriculture, agricultural modelling, digital technologies, and innovative agricultural solutions.You will work closely with students to develop their knowledge of and skills in precision agriculture, digital tools, drone technology, and agricultural computer modelling, equipping them for careers in the growing agri-tech field and enhancing on-farm profitability.Your expertise in this field will help us to bring these technologies together into an integrated framework with the aim of transforming agricultural production and related supply chains.You will be required to teach into Advanced Cropping System Technologies Project, and Digital and Innovative Agricultural Solutions units.
You will also have the opportunity to teach into other units including but not limited to Crop and Pasture Science, Soil Systems, livestock production, and Integrated Pest Management.Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:TeachingUtilise your expertise of the use of precision agriculture, drone technology, and agricultural modelling tools to deliver high-quality unit coordination, teaching and supervision in various formats to undergraduate and postgraduate students, fostering ongoing reflective improvement.Unit coordination, and teaching delivery in our Advanced Cropping System Technologies Project and Digital and Innovative Agricultural Solutions units.Developing students' digital skills, preparing them for roles in both the agriculture and technology sectors.Assess and provide feedback on student work, contributing to curriculum innovation and content design.Contribute to the teaching of other agriculture units.Project supervision of MSc Agriculture and Food Security student projectsManage administrative tasks related to teaching activitiesResearchSupport the development of an independent research program in the field of digital agriculture.Foster collaboration between industry and academia, leveraging research and funding opportunities by building an industry-engaged research program.Disseminate research findings through seminars, workshops, and publications in high-quality outlets.Provide effective supervision for research students and aim for national recognition in the field.Manage administrative tasks related to research activities.What we are looking forEssential CriteriaA PhD in Agricultural Science, Spatial Science, Agriculture Engineering, or a related field.A strong background in digital agriculture, including modelling, robotics and precision farming, and enthusiasm for contributing to the development of innovative agricultural solutions.Demonstrated high level teaching skills and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and a record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.An emerging (Level B) or established (Level C) record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.An emerging record (Level B) or proven history (Level C) of successful competitive grant applications and/or demand-driven industry funding.Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.Demonstrated ability / experience / capacity to undertake unit coordination role.Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.Role requirementsAs this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
