The key duties include:Researching, developing, selecting, and testing materials that are used in the manufacturing of electrical connectors inline with new product development plans.Overseeing installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of required equipment.Creating and developing designs for fixtures, tooling, rigs, and/or experimental parts to meet special engineering needs to enable higher production speed, accuracy and manufacturability.Examining new product designs and provide recommendations for correct material selection based on design requirements, manufacturability, and performance considerations including cost, weight, and maximum efficiency under safe operating conditions.Interpret component production technical drawings, performing nickel and silver electroplating, and chemical processing of components to meet internal and regulatory compliance specifications.Researching and recommending new materials and technologies to improve product design and performance including testing protocols to validate product designs against performance requirements and electrical industry standards.Preparation of chemicals, materials, and set-up equipment in readiness for successful plating production including surface preparation, cleaning, and polishing tasks to ensure optimal plating adhesion including producing, performing and maintaining electroplating bath tanks, high-voltage rectifiers, and racking and ancillary fixtures for optimal performance of equipment.Consulting with manufacturers of materials, including metals, brass, copper, aluminium, stainless steel ceramics, when determining which materials are appropriate for specific product applications.Ensuring the appropriate tools and materials are utilized in processes, confirming they meet all necessary specifications and requirements.Taking corrective actions to resolve quality and accuracy issues effectively and efficiently through LEAN improvement efforts by recommending and implementing modifications to reduce waste, enhance plant efficiency, and improve product quality.Organising, executing and inspecting laboratory processes to confirm nickel- and silver-plated products for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications including creating new materials that meet specified criteria and performance standards.Examining product failure data, doing laboratory testing to confirm or rule out potential reasons, and offering guidance on how to resolve any issues.Handling and storage of waste solids, liquids and gases to meet operational and standard work standards and preserve the integrity, ecological function and environmental values of air, land and water environments.Providing training and guidance to technicians in materials testing techniques and other materials related tasks, as required.Qualification & ExperienceBachelor’s degree or higher in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.Minimum of 3 years of experience in materials engineering, preferably in the electrical components or manufacturing industry.Proficiency in 3D CAD software to design product components and assemblies and inform manufacturing processes.Experience with regulatory compliance for materials (such as brass, copper, aluminium, epoxy resins, and composites) used in electrical and electronic applications.In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly injection moulding, electroplating, and CNC machining.Strong expertise in performing electroplating and chemical processing of components to meet internal and regulatory compliance specifications.Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity - 5S, LEAN & SMED to ensure technical best practice is adopted in the manufacture and quality control of parts.Familiarity with project management tools Monday.com is desirable.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Licenses/Certification neededValid driver's licenseA member of Engineers AustraliaRequired attributesMotivatedReliableProfessionalAttention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a teamProblem solverImplement continuous improvementPositive can-do attitudeSounds like you?Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your qualifications and experience.About CompanyNew Macey Pty Ltd are the manufacturers of high and low voltage electrical couplers used in open cut, underground mining and tunnelling operations with a focus on innovative design and high-quality production within Australia and around the globe, have strong commitment to R&D and have been in operation for more than 20 years.Salary: $87500-95000Job Publish: 14-11-2024Job Expire: 14-12-2024
