Position Profile: We are seeking suitably experienced and dynamic applicants for the role of Pharmacy Technician.
You will participate in drug distribution services, aseptic and non-aseptic pharmaceutical compounding services, inventory control, dispensing, stores procedures, PBS claim processing and undertake other specific duties as required. Key responsibilities will include:
* Management of pharmaceutical and consumable inventory by supervising requisitioning and receival, maintaining proper rotation and expiry date monitoring, including the use of automated technology, and organising the redistribution and salvage of pharmaceuticals.
* Imprest supply of pharmaceuticals including S8 and S4R medications, towards theatres and departments by ensuring their proper ordering, distribution and rotation according to local policy. Stock maintenance through liaison with pharmacists and nursing or medical staff where relevant.
* Manufacture and dispensing of pharmaceuticals including extemporaneous preparations and aseptically compounded products under the supervision and direction of a pharmacist. Assist in the training of staff as required in techniques.
* Ensuring prescriptions conform to legal and hospital requirements and that the prescription documentation requirements of PBS are met. Performing calculations to check correct dosing of medication. Preparing prescriptions and/or items for ward issue, including SAS, S4R and S8 drugs, up to the checking stage and maintaining appropriate records according to local policy under the supervision and direction of a pharmacist.
* Assisting in the generation and maintenance of PBS claims including the correction of rejected claim items, maintenance of back claims and generation of PBS claim reports.
* Supervision and training of pharmacy staff in section to which assigned and facilitation of rostering requirements and rotations.
