We’re looking for
A highly skilled and experienced emergency management planner to join our Maritime Environmental Emergency Response (MEER) team.
The Department of Transport is the lead Hazard Management Agency responsible for the management of maritime environmental emergencies in Western Australia.
As our Planning Officer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and leading the planning capability for the MEER team. You will provide strategic direction and leadership regarding preparation, prevention, and planning, to ensure operational readiness for Maritime Environmental Emergency hazards, which include marine oil pollution and marine transport emergencies.
In this exciting and challenging role, you will use your problem solving and analytical skills to apply best planning techniques to develop and deliver effective MEER contingency and incident action plans. You will review, develop, and implement the required systems, protocols, plans and risk management strategies to ensure successful outcomes for the MEER team and wider Department.
Our ideal candidate will have excellent planning and organisational skills and be a clear and confident communicator. The ability to apply sound judgement and make effective risk-based decisions in a high-pressure environment will be essential. You will have experience managing a team to deliver high quality outcomes. An understanding of Maritime Environmental Emergency Response and an incident management background would also be highly regarded.

7. Participate as a member of the MEER 24 hour on-call roster (including weekends and Public Holidays)
Successful applicants will be required to provide a satisfactory National Police Clearance Driver’s License before commencing employment.
