These are permanent opportunities working 8:45am–5:15pm Monday to Friday with a 1-hour lunch break.As a Solicitor, you will be required to provide high-level Legal Services such as advice, transaction, litigation, research and support in complex areas of law across Personal Injury and Workers Compensation to ensure the provision of high quality, efficient and effective legal services on behalf of the Department and its clients.ResponsibilitiesDeliver high quality legal advice on Personal Injury, Workers Compensation or Institutionalised AbuseProvide effective legal services including transactions or litigation in accordance with legislation, best practice and policyEstablish and maintain effective, productive and professional stakeholder relationshipsUndertake legal and administrative mattersConduct litigation before Courts and TribunalsInterpret, analyse and prepare complex legal documentation including legal records, correspondence, legislation, court orders, policies, reports, submissions, contracts and deedsComplete interviews with clientsConduct in-depth legal researchManage and provide advice on the organisations arising matters to ensure effective service deliveryContribute to the development and review of legal standards, practices, policies, systems, procedures, manuals, precedents and processesAssist in the development of training to ensure high quality and effective professional servicesFacilitate responses to legal reviews, proposals and legal initiativesRespond to formal and informal requests for information including court subpoenas and applications under relevant legislationAccurately and contemporaneously record time spent on legal work and prepare invoicesEnsure compliance with practice management standardsAbout YouImpeccable communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to translate complex legal terminology into everyday languageHigh attention to detailSuperior organisational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlinesHighly motivated, detail orientated and outcomes focusedRequirementsTertiary Law QualificationsUnrestricted Legal Practising Certificate and admission as a Solicitor of the NSW Supreme CourtExperience and knowledge in Personal Injury, WID, Workers Compensation and Occupiers Liability LawExperience in interpreting legislation, reviewing and negotiating contractsFlexibility to undertake occasional day travelWillingness to undergo a National Police CheckAbility to commence ASAPHow to ApplyApplications will be reviewed within 48 hours of the job posting.
