Job Title: Management Accountant

Pay Rate: Approx $55-75 per hour + Super (Level 6)

Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates and builds the preparation of the divisional annual budgets and forward estimates for consolidation in the whole client's budget.
2. Liaises with key stakeholders to effectively organise the budgeting timetable.
3. Provides expert advice and assistance to the Team Leader and Chief Finance Officer on budgeting and performance matters.
4. Contributes to a range of strategic financial projects that enhance the financial management services provided across the business.
5. Provides advice and assistance to management in preparation of business cases, financial submissions and related accounting issues.
6. Together with stakeholders, develops the operating budgets and resource allocation models.
7. Assists with the Treasury’s SIMS budget reporting.
8. Collaborates with the Team Leaders and other Divisional staff to develop and maintain effective financial management and reporting systems.
9. Prepares accurate and timely monthly management reports for each cost centre within a division in consultation and liaison with key stakeholders.
10. Supports the Team Leader by completing monthly financial commentary and analysis on key performance indicators for the Finance Committee, including direct liaison with key stakeholders involved.
11. Establishes cost control, management, reporting, and forecasting structure, in a consistent manner, to meet project and corporate reporting needs.
12. Supports the Team Leader for the provision of forward estimates and other information required by the Executive and external reporting bodies as appropriate.
13. Coordinates the accounting activities for externally funded and Royalties of Regions projects.
14. Undertakes financial modelling and analysis to assist decision making and business case development.
15. Builds and maintains effective communication and working relationships across each of the directorates and provides high level advice and support in relation to the client's financial and corporate governance services.
16. Builds and maintains effective working relationships with external parties (e.g. Health Support Services, Department of Treasury, Office of the Auditor General) on the provision of business services and ensures appropriate liaison, consultation and negotiation occurs to meet the Commission’s objectives.
17. Represents the directorate and the client's on relevant forums, committees, reviews and working parties when required.
18. Liaises with relevant government and non-government agencies as required.
19. Maintains corporate policies, processes and procedures to promote contemporary and cost effective best practice and governance.
20. Responsible for developing and managing appropriate best practice management accounting policies and procedures.
21. Maintains up to date knowledge of accounting and financial policies.
22. Prepares and assists with responses to Minister, Executive, Audit, Treasury, and other external stakeholders, where required.
23. Other duties as required.
Essential to be successful in this role:
1. Extensive business/financial management experience including experience with financial reporting, accounting, in a business/financial management area.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of the public sector legislative framework, procedural requirements, Government policy, the Government budget process and contemporary financial management practice.
3. Well-developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to effectively consult and provide advice and support to relevant stakeholders.
4. Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills with a proven ability in business process design, development and implementation.
5. Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
6. Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification.
7. Current valid NPC or ability to obtain one.
