About the Role
At Coles, we’re passionate about delivering local relevance and exceptional customer experiences. As our Senior Marketing Manager – Local Area Marketing, you’ll play a critical role in shaping how we engage with customers at a state and local level — driving tailored strategies that make a real impact. In this high-profile role, you’ll collaborate with senior stakeholders to build and execute local marketing plans that enhance customer engagement, support store performance, and drive business outcomes.
If you’re ready to lead impactful local marketing strategies and thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, we’d love to hear from you.
Applications close 10th April.
What you’ll do
1. Develop and implement state and local marketing strategies that drive customer engagement and retention.
2. Partner with senior leaders, including GMs across Merchandise, Corporate Affairs, Store Development, Marketing and Operations, to influence range strategies and marketing communications.
3. Lead marketing initiatives for new, renewal, closure, and competitor-impacted stores, maintaining customer loyalty during times of change.
4. Manage and develop a team of five, fostering a high-performing, motivated team culture, including coaching and mentoring our graduates.
5. Oversee the marketing budget, ensuring effective spend management and agency collaboration.
6. Leverage data insights and performance metrics to inform decisions and continuously improve marketing impact.
About You and Your Skills
We’re seeking a highly ambitious, senior marketing professional with the leadership skills and drive to excel in this role and step into a Head-of-level position in the next few years. With exceptional stakeholder management and a proven ability to navigate complex environments, you’ll bring a strategic mindset and the confidence to influence senior leadership.
You’ll also have:
1. 10+ years’ experience in a customer-facing environment, ideally in retail or FMCG.
2. Proven ability to engage with and influence C-suite stakeholders, handling complex conversations to drive strategic outcomes.
3. Experience driving effective marketing communications that increase footfall and deliver measurable results.
4. Strong people management and leadership skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
5. Commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and developing business cases.
6. Evidence of leading high-visibility projects requiring C-suite sign-off, overcoming resistance to achieve business objectives.
