Role Overview
Gympie Regional Council has an opportunity for a new fixed term employee to join our Water & Sewerage Team. The Team Member Water and Sewerage Level 5, plays a pivotal role in maintenance of the water supply and sewerage network for the Water and Sewerage Network section. The Section is required to deliver safe, reliable drinking water and remove and treat sewage for our domestic and commercial customers.
Team Member Water and Sewerage is responsible to the Coordinator Water and Sewerage Network for the safe, efficient and effective delivery of network maintenance activities of the Water and Sewerage Section.
The Section is responsible for effective and efficient maintenance of the drinking water supply and sewerage schemes to ensure we meet our commitment to our customers and meet our compliance objectives.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
1. Demonstrated experience of greater than 3 years in a similar role within a water industry environment.
2. Demonstrated ability to undertake a broad range of tasks including operation of medium complexity plant, vehicles, equipment and tools in a competent, proficient and safe manner. Previous sewer jetter CCTV experience.
3. Previous experience with water meter maintenance/replacement.
4. Demonstrated physical agility and dexterity to carry out regular labouring duties.
5. Demonstrated ability to maintain harmony within a team and foster good working relationships with all council employees and members of the public.
6. Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision.
7. Basic level of digital technology experience (smart phones, tablets etc) for the purposes of workflow management and reporting.
8. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skill
9. Demonstrated Excavator qualification
10. Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained.
11. General construction induction (white/blue card).
Essential Requirements:
12. Working in a safe manner in accordance with Council’s overarching Safety policies and procedures.
13. Perform labouring tasks and operation of plant and equipment in a safe, competent, efficient and timely manner to deliver works programs of the Water and Sewerage Section to a quality standard.
14. Work under limited supervision to assist in the maintenance of the water supply network with a focus on water quality, hygiene, regulatory compliance and public health.
15. Work under limited supervision to assist in the maintenance of the sewerage network with a focus on environmental protection, regulatory compliance and public safety.
16. Collecting data and information, e.g. related to flow rates and pressure levels in water mains.
17. Identify new ways to improve work practices in accordance with Council’s continuous improvement commitment.
18. Communicate respectfully and effectively with members of the public, management and other team members.
19. Participate in the on-call roster as required.
20. Any other duties within the level of responsibility
