Queensland Corrective Services (Organisation site)Sentence Management Services; Specialist Operations; Community Corrections and Specialist Operations; Brisbane The Statewide Manager, Maximum Security Team will provide advice regarding the standards and principles related to sentence management practices and legislative compliance for prisoners referred and managed as maximum-security classification. The role is also responsible for providing strategic direction and policy advice to Senior Executive staff relating to sentence management functions for maximum security classification prisoners, and the overall management of human, financial and physical resources within the unit. Key Responsibilities Manage the operations of the Maximum Security team; Provide operational and strategic policy advice in relation to sentence management functions for maximum security classification prisoners; Provide briefings to the relevant decision makers to enable the decision-making process associated with maximum security classifications to function; Review complex policy matters and identify and manage any case-related organisational risk; Establish and maintain the knowledge base for the Maximum Security Team regarding cases, individual prisoners, decision-making changes; Develop and maintain systems for identifying and responding to emerging risk in relation to maximum security activities and processes for Sentence Management Services; Ensure a culture of continuous improvement in service delivery, development of innovative solutions and sensitivity to inter-agency and intra-agency coordination issues; Monitor national and international trends to ensure the Agency is well informed to make decisions about the future directions for sentence management of maximum security prisoners; Manage the budget and financial resources of the unit and implement strategies to respond to budget trends; Manage the workload and work practices of staff and facilitate the training and professional development needs of staff; Adopt contemporary human resource management practices to ensure development of a highly skilled, flexible and engaged team; Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of employees in accordance with the responsibilities under the Public Service Act and maintain own level of knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures relevant to managing staff and contemporary management practices; Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with operational managers and staff at all levels of the organisation and key external stakeholders to consult, review service performance and collaborate on key issues to strengthen outcomes and improve service quality, accessibility and responsiveness; Apply detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, workplace instructions, directives, and their application in relation to decisions regarding maximum security classification and maximum security orders; Ensure all Maximum Security Team staff are familiar with sentence management principles through the promotion of staff adherence to procedures and manuals pertaining to this sentence management function.
