Are you an experienced Automation Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation and electrical projects with an ASX Listed manufacturer? We are seeking a skilled professional to join a high-performing team and deliver detailed design, FAT, and commissioning across a variety of control system and automation projects.
About the Role
As an Automation Engineer, you will collaborate with the Lead Automation Engineer and Project Engineers to ensure the successful delivery of electrical and automation projects - on time, within budget, and to scope. You will provide technical oversight and ensure engineering governance of OEM and subcontracted work packages while maintaining a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed designs for small-to-medium automation and electrical projects. Oversee and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning of PLC/SCADA systems. Ensure compliance with engineering standards and risk management processes to maintain a zero-harm project outcome. Provide technical governance on OEM and subcontractor deliverables. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives. Troubleshoot and optimize Siemens S7 PLCs, Citect SCADA, and Siemens VVVF Drives. Support integration and commissioning of new industrial equipment, such as: Walking Beam Furnace Heating & Handling Control System (FDS review, PLC/SCADA software, Level 3 system integration). 50T Overhead Crane Integration & Commissioning. Wireless & Network Infrastructure. OEM Turnover Table, Oxy Cutter & Safe Access System. About You
Experienced Automation Engineer with a strong background in control systems, electrical engineering, and industrial automation. Proficient in PLC & SCADA software, particularly Siemens S7 PLCs and Citect SCADA. Skilled in electrical/software design, integration, and commissioning. Strong problem-solving ability with a critical and objective thinking approach. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across project teams and stakeholders. Knowledge of current and legacy manufacturing automation systems. Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.). Commitment to safety, health, environment, and community standards.
