The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Legal Assistant to join our busy Construction & Projects team in Melbourne.
Our team is well recognised by government departments, major construction companies, and developer clients for practical and commercial advice.
You will provide administrative and secretarial support to a mix of senior and junior lawyers in a close-knit team that values collaboration and a supportive culture.
Key Responsibilities:
* Drafting and editing high-quality legal correspondence and documentation.
* Liaising with clients, partners, lawyers, and other stakeholders via email and telephone.
* Time entry, preparation of bills, and processing of monthly billing.
* Assisting with matter management, including file opening and closing, and preparing matter status and billing reports for the team and for clients.
* General administrative duties.
We work in a hybrid way at Maddocks, with part of our week in the office, and also offer flexible working arrangements, whether that's hours, place of work, or leave taken.

About You

A strong work ethic and commitment to your role are essential for success in this position.
* At least two years of experience as a legal assistant or executive assistant within private practice.
* Polished secretarial skills, including refined knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
* A proactive and collaborative approach, with a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* The ability to produce accurate, high-quality work (attention to detail is critical).
