An exciting opportunity is anticipated for a talented Senior Policy Officer in the Civil and Regulatory Law Branch’s Human Rights and Social Policy team. The Human Rights and Social Policy team is responsible for the human rights scrutiny function for the whole of government, advising government agencies and the Attorney-General on the compatibility of all government bills with the Human Rights Act. The team also has policy responsibility for a wide range of human rights and social policy legislation, manages human rights law reform projects, and delivers public sector human rights training. The Senior Policy Officer will contribute to policy outcomes including through regulatory and legislative reform, provide high-level advice on complex issues, and prepare related reports, submissions, briefs, and correspondence for the Senior Executive and Government. We are looking for a highly organised individual who have strong attention to detail and is able to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders across government and the community sector. You will need excellent analytical and research skills in relation to policy and legislation, be self-motivated, be responsive and adaptive to changing priorities, show initiative, and exercise sound judgment.
