What you’ll be doing
This position will encompass statistical analysis of data collected on various projects across the Stillbirth CRE, including the Australian Perinatal dataset of almost 6M births, with a focus on reducing stillbirth and related adverse outcomes. The role will also include working closely with Prof Sailesh Kumar, who leads the Genesis Maternal Fetal Medicine Research Group, as well as other stillbirth/adverse pregnancy outcomes research groups within and outside of the Mater.
1. Advise and assist researchers in the design of research studies, such as cohort studies and clinical trials, including sample size considerations, modelling and trial simulation.
2. Undertake advanced statistical analysis of clinical research, including large perinatal datasets
3. Provide advice and support for researchers in the use of statistical software packages including: Stata, R, SPSS and Excel
4. Ensure that study data are organised, securely stored and maintain privacy and confidentiality
5. Supervision of junior research staff
6. Contribute to the preparation of grant applications, manuscripts and other scientific publications as required
7. Contribute to meetings, presentation and other related events
About you
You will have postgraduate qualifications in epidemiology, statistics or biostatistics or a related discipline
8. Experience with design of research studies with a focus on statistical aspects including analytical approaches and sample size calculations
9. Extensive experience with Stata, R, SPSS and Microsoft Excel.
10. Highly experienced working with large clinical datasets, linked data, systematic reviews and meta analysis
11. Demonstrated experience with data management
12. Experience with people management, including managing staff performance and development
