The Psychological Services Unit, part of the Specialist Operations Branch, provides exceptional support to psychological services staff in correctional centres through expert clinical advice, professional development, and governance oversight.
LOCATION : Borallon Training and Correctional Centre is located near Ipswich and accommodates primarily sentenced male prisoners. The centre is focused on providing opportunities for rehabilitation through training, education and employment. Psychologists working at BTCC have the opportunity to conduct assessment, deliver group and individual intervention and engage in case management to support positive outcomes. You will have the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team and provided financial support towards undertaking supervision.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
• Specialised Expertise: Proven skills in evidence-based assessment and intervention for adults facing challenges such as suicidality, mental health issues, cognitive impairments, or developmental disorders.
• Strong Communication: Exceptional written communication abilities to produce high-quality professional reports and case notes, along with outstanding verbal skills to engage effectively with a diverse client group.
• Legislative Knowledge: In-depth understanding of, and ability to interpret and apply, relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Commitment to Excellence: A passion for continuous learning and professional development, with a dedication to applying best practices in forensic and clinical psychology.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Provisional or General Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
