With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets. The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community. The Gunnedah team is autonomous, highly regarded and capable team with a strong sense of purpose and connection to the local community. The primary accountability is the effective and efficient leadership for the maintenance team and works activities that deliver an annual program which ensures the integrity and operational safety of your regional rail network. Your success in delivering accountability brings recognition of effort for the team and critically assists a wide range of customers with their logistics needs and supports economic stability across the regional economy.Key accountabilities include: Promote a safety culture within the team to conform with current Work Health and Safety (WH&S) and relevant Rail Safety legislation.Certify that rail infrastructure is available in a safe operational condition.Determine appropriate resource allocation including direct team and contractors, plant and material allocation and prioritisation.Authorisation and procurement of cross-functional support, materials, maintenance & equipment.Compliance with the mandatory systematic inspection, examination, condition monitoring and functional checks on the rail infrastructure.Promote and encourage positive culture change within the team.Engagement across all stakeholder groups with a clear objective of developing long standing relationships.What do we want from you?This is a critical role supporting both the regional ARTC rail network and the continued success and engagement of your team. You easily identify with a leadership capability which balances safety and care for your team with the operational requirements of our network in supporting customers and stakeholders. You will clearly demonstrate a proven track record of success in maintenance, assets or heavy engineering environment. Authentic leadership will be the equal of your technical capability while a continuous improvement mindset is mandatory.
