Facilities Manager - permanent full-time role
Katoomba Christian Convention seeks an innovative Facilities Manager to lead our Facilities Team to look after KCC’s grounds, buildings and facilities, provide event logistics and guest liaison and continue to develop a Christ-centered organisational culture.
KCC is an evangelical Christian, not-for-profit organisation that was founded in 1903 and runs large Christian conventions (currently 7 per year, each with over 2000 people). Our scenic Katoomba site is located right next to the Blue Mountains National Park and has 28 acres of bushland, grounds and facilities, accommodating up to 540 people.
The Facilities Manager role we are recruiting for is to lead the Facilities Team. The position reports directly to the General Manager and works as part of a Management Team. It would suit a strong evangelical Christian who is a ‘people person’, trade qualified with a minimum 5 years experience in a management or supervisory role in a trade, maintenance or property area. The position is primarily a “hands-on” role.
Summary of key responsibilities
1. Manage and oversee KCC’s facilities (land, buildings, facilities & equipment)
2. Contribute to high quality presentation of KCC’s facilities overall
3. Ensure the efficient operation of the centre, including vehicles & equipment
4. Provide skilled hands-on tradesperson work and all-round trade competency
5. Respond to urgent repair needs with initiative as they arise
6. Lead KCC’s Facilities Team - train, supervise and roster staff and daily work
7. Assess, plan, budget, schedule and carry out preventative maintenance and regular inspections on KCC’s facilities as required
8. Manage/coordinate/supervise contractors and tradespeople as required
9. Coordinate, supervise and seek to motivate volunteers to assist with facilities projects and tasks
10. Lead renovation projects and capital works programs
11. As required, be on call and able to respond in the event of an emergency - KCC rosters a site staff member to be on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week in case of an emergency. This role is shared among the Management Team on a rostered basis.
12. Lead KCC event logistics and act as Guest Liaison/Site Host at times
13. Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained while guests are staying
14. Develop, implement and maintain relevant compliance, policies and procedures
15. A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and active involvement in a local church
16. Capacity to uphold KCC’s core values, vision, mission and actively lead a Christ-centered organisational culture
17. Trade qualified with a good understanding of all the key relevant trades
18. Proven track record and minimum 5 years’ experience in a management or supervisory role in a trade, maintenance or property area
19. Adept at effectively communicating with guests, staff and contractors
20. Awareness and demonstrable knowledge of safety and compliance needs
21. Strategic planning, budgeting and project management skills
22. Experience in managing staff, including training and rostering
23. Team player, and able to work independently
24. Excellent initiative and problem-solving skills
25. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities to meet guest needs
26. Strong multi-tasking, organisational and time management planning skills
27. High standard of written and spoken English
28. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
29. Current NSW driver's license
30. Current NSW forklift license
31. Maturity to handle a variety of issues that may arise in KCC’s facilities
32. Willingness and availability to be on call and work on weekends on a rotating roster
Desirable experience and attributes
1. Similar role or some experience in Christian camping
2. Experience in overseeing and leading renovations and building projects
3. Experience in event logistics and event management
4. Strategic thinker with business acumen
5. Experience in carrying out emergency procedures, or willingness to learn
6. Knowledge of Venuelife booking system
