DIRECTORATE: Business, Growth and Community CLASSIFICATION: Grade E SALARY: $73,239 to $84,958 pa 11.5% employer contribution to superannuation REPORTING TO: Learning and Outreach Coordinator EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Permanent Full Time THE POSITION: This position provides support to the Learning and Outreach Coordinator and contributes to the development of effective and engaging curriculum based education, outreach and public programs, workshops and educational materials to promote and engage the community in exhibitions and collections at the LibraryMuseum and Lavington Library. Delivered in conjunction with the broad Learning and Outreach program, this role focuses on providing information and educational experiences that stimulate and broaden interest, enjoyment and understanding of museums and libraries within the context of life-long learning. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, promote, deliver and evaluate engaging, student-centred and curriculum-based education experiences, workshops and tours for students and teachers within the context of LibraryMuseum facilities and the QEII Cultural Precinct. Provide advice on New South Wales and Australian Curriculum content and outcomes and best practice pedagogy to the Learning and Outreach team, Museum Team and Collection Development team to support the delivery of services and resources that support educational outcomes. Develop, promote, deliver and evaluate a range of innovative participatory programs to further the lifelong learning role of the LibraryMuseum to engage existing and new audiences, including school holiday and after school programs. Collaborate with the Museum Curatorial and Learning and Outreach Team to develop children’s exhibitions and museum outreach services that support curriculum learning outcomes. Coordinate school bookings for programs and educational visits and excursions including the Write Around the Murray Festival school program and River of Stories writing competition. Oversee and maintain education communications including collating and distribution of a quarterly E-newsletter for educators, responding to all school enquiries, maintaining contact lists and maintaining online education content. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with schools and tertiary institutions as well as school librarian, history and education networks, community and special interest groups to ensure program relevance. Perform customer service duties at the Albury LibraryMuseum. Develop, promote and deliver library and museum out of school hours engagement programs for secondary aged students. Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training. Some evening and weekend work is required. Hours worked on weekends will attract the appropriate loadings. This role also includes one Saturday LibraryMuseum customer service shift per month. This position may also involve work outside normal working hours due to the nature and mix of business/events. This will be in agreement with your supervisor and hours worked will attract the appropriate loadings. This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely. This position involves working both indoor and outdoor, along with computer work. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day – depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. Appropriate WHS standards will be applied for all manual handing activity. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position. This position requires evidence of a current NSW Working with Children’s Check. This position is delegated with certain powers, authorities, duties and functions of Council under the AlburyCity Delegations of Authority in accordance with section 378 of the Local Government Act. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Tertiary Qualifications in Education, Museum or related discipline, or relevant experience Current Working With Children Check DESIRABLE CRITERIA: Class C (standard) Drivers Licence EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience in the development and co-ordination of educational programs. Demonstrated experience in engaging young people in learning experiences through contemporary pedagogy. SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: The role of libraries and museums in providing educational and public programs. Broad Knowledge of NSW and Victorian School Curriculum and ability to develop curriculum related programs and resources. Aptitude in innovative program design, including use of new technologies in program design Knowledge of the role of differentiated learning principles in ensuring access to programs for all learners.
