DNV– Maritime Region Southeast Asia, Pacific & India is seeking a Principal Newbuilding Surveyor to join our Hobart office on a full time basis, providing class services shipyards and certification of materials and components.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Survey of vessels during New construction stage.
2. Project management of new building vessels.
3. Certification of materials and components manufactured by local Hobart industries.
4. Establish and maintain good customer relations with local clients.
5. Technical assistance externally and internally as needed.
6. Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the rules, regulations, instructions, guidelines and quality requirements of DNV.
7. Maintain the confidentiality of clients' business, processes, designs, developments and documentation.
8. Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation and integrity of DNV.
9. When applicable, to supervise the work of others and ensure that it is carried out as above and in an efficient and economic manner.
10. Exhibit customer-oriented focus through promoting DNV onboard or on-site and by acting as a technical resource for customer questions.

Position Qualifications/Requirements:
18. Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or relevant degree.
19. Experience as a project manager on complicated vessels.
20. Strong customer service orientation.
21. Technical competencies: strong understanding/experience of class, statutory surveyor work and associated responsibilities.
22. Behavioral competencies: Team player but able to work independently on surveys.
23. Flexibility in traveling is required.
24. Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job.
25. Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
