Choral Tutors, Tutor Trainees & Rehearsal Venue Supervisors (systematic casual) The Australian Girls Choir is looking for enthusiastic and motivated casual venue staff to join our team! Looking to add a few weekly hours of rewarding work in the Performing Arts that will fulfil your artistic side? The Australian Girls Choir (AGC) is Australia's leading children's performing arts organisation, dedicated to empowering girls through music. We have approximately 6,500 choristers training in six Australian cities and we're looking for more choral tutors, tutor trainees and rehearsal venue supervisors to join our team in Canberra. We're an innovative, collaborative and dynamic workplace, where a shared interest in the performing arts brings together many people with unique skills from a variety of backgrounds. Our Tutors & Tutor Trainees teach various AGC levels exciting and vibrant repertoire, while our Rehearsal Venue Supervisors ensure that our Tutors have everything they require to teach their weekly classes. This includes the physical set up of the classroom, monitoring the safety and well-being of the choristers, and assisting with behavioural management in classes. The role also has a large customer service element, as they communicate important news to the parents of the choristers and answer any questions they may have. We have a number of opportunities available within our team for individuals with experience in performing arts and singing & music teaching. Successful teaching applicants will have: A passion for girls' education and desire to champion the value of Performing Arts participation Experience in music, performing arts and/or education Commitment to teaching weekly classes during school terms as well as occasional relief covers and weekend work for events Experience teaching groups of children between the ages of 5 and 11 (desired) A qualification in music and/or teaching or working towards a qualification in either field (desired) Experience with the Kodaly method of teaching (desired) Successful Rehearsal Venue Supervising applicants will have: A passion for girls' education and the drive to champion the value of Performing Arts participation Experience in customer service roles such as hospitality, retail or administration (desired) Commitment to working weekly during school terms as well as occasional weekend work for events Additional Opportunities Alongside our regular classes, our staff can be/are involved in a number of other great, remunerated opportunities and events. These can include: Staff Replacement work, which involves covering classes when the regular Tutor or Rehearsal Venue Supervisor is absent Open Days Production Rehearsal Days Concert Days External Engagements Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills are essential for all positions, along with a passion for the performing arts, an interest in and love of teaching children and a valid Working with Vulnerable People registration. As classes are extra-curricular most of our casual staff members study or hold full-time positions outside the AGC.
