Using our company processes and together with our highly skilled staff, access to architects, interior designers and other building consultants, an integral part of our success is delivering cutting edge office fitout and design that provides a functional and space-efficient working environment for our clients.About You :Qualification in Building and construction Cert IIIPosition Summary :The Site Carpenter / Leading Hand is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, execution, control and completion of specific carpentry trade on projects onsite ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.Key Requirements :Proven experience in General building methods and materialsProven experience in safety risk management such as input into developing SWMS's.Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.The ability to work as a team player, working with the wide variety of personalities and situations whilst remaining professional and outcome focused.The ability to work independently and to communicate clearly with clients, management team, Site and office team members, colleagues and clients.Attention to detail and the ability to follow up targets and deadlines to achieve outcomes.Initiative in improving our processes and procedures.Excellent abilities in priority setting and time management under pressure to achieve deadlines and commitments.Performance will be assessed by observation, customer feedback, feedback from work colleagues and feedback from the management team.Sound knowledge of tools and equipment relevant to your job, and ability to read and understand processes and plans.Job Responsibility :Comply with Company Policies and ProceduresEach employee has the responsibility to be aware of and abide by the company policies and procedures.In your position it is a requirement that those employees that report to you or work with you abide by these company policies and procedures.Safety and Housekeeping StandardsEach employee is responsible for their personal safety and that of those that work with or around them.
Each employee must ensure that any plant or equipment that they use is safe for the intended purpose and any unsafe plant is reported to the Project Manager for immediate repair.
Unsafe equipment should be tagged-out until such repairs have occurred.Housekeeping is a vital part of Safety and Quality.
Each employee or each employee within a work group is charged with maintaining their immediate work area in a safe and tidy state.
The Carpenter/Leading Hand is also responsible for ensuring their Site is organised and tidy in a safe manor.Carpenter/Leading Hands are authorised to:Report anything unsafe anytime to the Site manager or Project Manager or Managing Director.Report anyone not adhering to the company policies and procedures to the Project Manager.
If the Project Manager is absent report directly to the Managing Director.
Report any clients unsafe request or behaviour to the Project Manager.
If the Project Manager is absent report directly to the Managing Director.Detailed Carpenters / Leading Hands tasks:Completion of the building/ fit out works setout on the project documents, in-conjunction with other services trades onsite.General carpentry that has been set out throughout the projectReading and interpreting the drawings and ensuring setouts are correctAbility to perform General Carpentry Roles for the commercial and residential sector.Must be fit for carpentry duties.Ensuring projects are delivered with a High level of quality with attention to detail and finishes and within OHS standards.Ensuring the carpentry on a projects are delivered with a High level of quality with attention to detail and finishes.Assist with the Take offs and ordering of building materials for the projects, when requiredPerform setouts onsite, sometimes with the direction from a surveyor if nominated on the projectSchedule and attend weekly onsite meetings for all projects when requiredLiaise with the subtrades daily on carpentry requirements and or detailsTake offs and ordering of building materials for the projects, when requiredAssisting the CA & or PM with detailed information for any Contract VariationsManaging work hours, start and finish times, breaks and attendance including managing of overtime and potential fatigue of carpenters onsite.Resolve onsite issues as required and seek assistance from the Site Manager on an as needs basis.Reporting to management any performance issues or poor behaviour.Liaise with project management and the client including reading plans and scopes and reporting any differences or any verbal instructions from client.Completing all required paperwork daily, including site Diaries when required.Reporting any injury, near miss or accident as soon as it happens to the Site Manager or Project Manager.Maintaining the safety of the general public and facilities.Reporting any project hold ups straight away to the Site Manager/Project Manager.Ensure engagement in the site meetings and executing actions that come from these meetings.Managing safety, P.P.E and all control plans within the safe work method statement.Other duties as directed, to help the company provide outstanding service to its customers.Safety ManagementMaintaining OHS & Safety procedures via online safety and quality portalEnsuring your safety and own site housekeeping on the project is of a high standardEnsuring you are inducted appropriately, signed in and signed onto an approved SWMS when requiredEnsuring you are appropriately licensed for their task.Participate in external and internal audit processes and implement corrective actions in response to audit findings.CommunicationAttend and has input in team and client meetings effectively.Tracks and reports weekly progress of carpentry trades works to the Project teamHolds regular status meetings with PSC project team.Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.Client ManagementDevelops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties with the companies interest.Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate correct alternative building solutions with knowledge of the NCC and OHS regulations.Absence:In the case of absence of the other "Carpenter" or "Skilled Labourer", assumes the responsibilities and authorities of the position, but may delegate them to other suitably trained staff.Job Functions :SupervisorJob Benefits :Interesting project and a varied range of established clienteleLong term employment with an established reputable companyAn engaging variety of projects - so no two days are the sameCareer Growth opportunities with potential to move into a site manager/foreperson role for the right candidateOther Benefits include incolink, co-invest contributions.Selling Point :CarpenterContact :Cameron Pirotta
