BACKGROUND TO THE ROLE
Maitland Baptist Church is looking for a Youth Coordinator to join our Pastoral Team who will faithfully lead and disciple young people. The ideal candidate will have a heart for young people, a desire to share the love of Jesus with them, and a passion to see them go and do likewise. They will be responsible for coordinating our youth ministry, which includes teaching, discipleship, outreach, and pastoral care through our mission statement‘Loving God; Loving People; Making Disciples.’

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Wildfire Youth. This includes but is not limited to:
Developing engaging and relevant, biblical content and programs for youth gatherings.
Cultivating a Godly culture which welcomes, respects, encourages, and challenges young people to be faithful followers of Jesus.
Building relationships, connections, and pathways towards Wildfire Youth through early engagement with children in Year 6 who are enrolled in MBC OOSHC.
Effectively transitioning youth from Wildfire Youth to the broader church, e.g., Young adult’s ministry, Sunday services, and broader church programs.
Building relationships with parents and families to create a supportive community.
And Discipling Leaders:
Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers who form part of the Wildfire Youth Leadership Team.
Identify in young people their God-given gifts and abilities and empower them to develop and use these gifts in serving others both inside and outside the church.
Recognise that young people will be looking to you as an example and so make every effort to live with integrity and authenticity – where faith and practice are in alignment.
Provide pastoral care as appropriate to youth (1 Peter 5:1-3).
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Have a heart for ministry with youth and young people flowing from an intimate and healthy personal relationship with God.
To work from the Church office and provide a level of availability and accountability appropriate for the role.
A commitment to communicating and living out MBC’s values, vision, and mission to the Church body.
Be active in the life of the Church and in the wider community.
Be willing to comply with MBC’s ‘Safe Church’ policies and practices.
A desire to seek further studies in Christian Theology and Pastoral Practices is preferred.
The position is being offered as a permanent part-time position for twelve hours per week.
Note: There may be scope for the applicant to supplement the Youth Coordinator hours with additional hours working for MBC Out of School Hour Care Service, subject to the applicant meeting the usual criteria for employment in the OOSHC arena.
