About the Role
Join our team as a Registered Nurse (RN) in either a Full Time or Part Time capacity to work in Rehabilitation and Geriatric Evaluation Medicine (GEM), Ward D at Casey Hospital. The positions are ongoing or fixed term, working a 24/7 rotating roster.
Operationally reporting to the Nurse Manager (NM) and on the shift to the Associate Nurse Manager (ANM) who leads the team, you will be responsible for the clinical care of patients. The role requires RN's with experience in rehabilitation or recent acute experience who are willing and enthusiastic to join a busy multidisciplinary team to provide patient centred care to complex patients and improving patient experiences during their admission.
You will have the support of a senior nursing leadership team and opportunities for post graduate studies within a supported environment.
The role requires engagement in activities to support quality improvement across the program, support timely discharge planning, and provide high quality care to patients as part of a team model of care.
About Us
Ward D is a 27 bedded unit (20 Rehabilitation beds and 7 GEM) and we are located on the ground floor at Casey Hospital. We work closely as a multidisciplinary team which includes allied health and medical teams to support patients to return home, go into aged care or supported disability accommodation. Common patient admissions include but not limited to:
· Stroke
· Fractures post falls
· Functional decline
· Reconditioning post CA diagnosis / treatment
· Rehabilitation post-surgery e.g. craniotomy, hip and knee replacements, abdominal resections, amputations
· Delirium
· Rehabilitation post procedures: Tracheostomy/ Laryngectomy
You’ll also have the unique opportunity to work towards undertaking Team Leader shifts. If you have an interest in leadership, you’ll be given the opportunity to supervise other members of the team and to develop your leadership skills in a structured and supportive environment with pathways and education available to make your Leadership goals a reality.

About You
· Enthusiasm, compassion & ability to work collaboratively! As an experienced Registered Nurse you will understand the Clinical requirements of the role however your enthusiasm for ongoing learning and education will make you a stand out!
· Understanding the importance of patient centred care, you have experience as a Registered Nurse and have a genuine interest in working and interacting with our diverse patients.
· Of course you will hold a current AHPRA registration and employee level working with Children’s Check teamed with Australian working rights.
· The role will see you liaising with internal and external stakeholders, therefore the ability to engage and build strong relations with effective verbal and written communication skills is important.
