Role
The Business Support Officer is the first point of contact for the Local Government Inspectorate dealing with requests for information, advice or assisting people with complaints in relation to Local Government. This can be via phone or email.
Key requirements of this position include customer relations and communications skills in the context of a regulatory environment. The Business Support officer is also required to provide business reporting, administration support to the unit and liaison with other corporate business areas within the State Government.
Some of your duties will include:
1. The Business Support Officer at the LGI is responsible for the first point of contact for all enquiries, approaches and correspondence
2. Receipt and response to incoming phone calls
3. Receipt recording in the Case Management System and response to complaints

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
4. Knowledge of Legislation: A knowledge of the Local Government Act 2020 (Vic) or experience working in a regulatory environment.
5. Advanced Computer Skills: Uses a wide range of software application features for word processing, excel spreadsheets, databases, registers, etc. Assists others with problem-solving on IT systems. Experience in using finance systems such as oracle or other accounts payable systems, and experience with case management systems, in particular in a Dynamics platform.
6. Communication skills: Demonstrates high level verbal and written communication skills, ensuring appropriate format, style and approach is taken to deliver best outcomes for the Inspectorate.
7. Planning and Organising: Identifies processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal: Identifies more and less critical activities and operates accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required: Develops and implements systems and procedures to guide work and track progress: Recognises barriers and finds effective ways to deal with them.
Qualifications/Requirements
8. A business or legal qualification is desirable
9. Knowledge of and/or experience working with legislation
10. A current Victoria Drivers Licence is desirable but not necessary
