The Department of Health is seeking applications for a permanent full-time Medical Scientist to join the Biochemistry Core Laboratory team at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
The Role:
The Medical Scientist:
* Primarily works within the Core Laboratory which provides a 24-hours, 7 days a week diagnostic service in Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Bank.
* Works across all areas of this multidisciplinary laboratory, and acts as a sole scientist on the out of hours roster and participates in the emergency on-call roster.
Duties:
* Perform the analyses of clinical samples required for the provision of routine and out of hours service.
* Perform routine and specialised tests in the area of Pathology testing with accurate documentation of results and reports.
* Follow guidelines in reporting results, including telephoning urgent and critical results.
* Assist in the maintenance of procedures, equipment, quality control and supplies of consumables to ensure an uninterrupted service as far as possible.
Details of appointment:
Permanent full-time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary:
$77,737 - $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

Minimum Requirements:
* Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
