Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Software Engineer (Oracle Developer). This is a long-term contract role for an initial duration of 4 months, with two possible 12-month extensions, located at our client’s Canberra, ACT office with hybrid working arrangements (minimum three days onsite) As the selected candidate, you will: • Develop and maintain Oracle databases in line with business requirements. • Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, indexes, triggers, procedures, functions, and packages using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL. • Optimize database performance, security, and scalability using Oracle best practices. • Create and execute unit test cases, troubleshoot issues, and maintain code quality. • Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle. • Provide technical support and guidance to development teams. • Investigate and resolve production system issues to minimize downtime. • Research and recommend improvements for Oracle database solutions. • Follow change control processes for efficient and effective solution deployment. • Prepare and maintain production support documentation. To be successful in this role you should have: • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent work experience. • At least 3 years of experience in Oracle development in a large-scale application environment. • Proficiency in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including analytical functions, collections, dynamic SQL, and exception handling. • Experience in Oracle database development and deployment. • Knowledge of Oracle database administration, backup/recovery, performance tuning, security, and data modeling. • Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or Scrum) and tools for version control, testing, and debugging. • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively. • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. It is desirable if you have:• Certification in Oracle technologies (OCP, OCM, or OCE). • Experience with Azure DevOps for managing development workflows. • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Oracle development. • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
