About the Role: An exciting opportunity awaits for a dedicated VCE English teacher to join a highly regarded Catholic senior school near Taylor's Hill, in Melbourne's West, starting in 2025. In this role, you'll be instructing Year 11-12 students, offering either a full-time or part-time position, with the flexibility to suit your schedule. Join a collaborative, supportive school community and inspire the next generation of learners in their final years of Secondary school, in a dynamic environment!Key duties: Designing and delivering lessons that align with the VCE English curriculum including teaching key concepts, texts, and skills prescribed for Units 1-4.Selecting appropriate texts, including novels, plays, poetry, and non-fiction, for study based on VCAA guidelines.Teaching students how to critically analyse these texts, including exploring themes, characters, literary techniques, and socio-cultural contexts.Teaching students how to write analytical essays, including structuring arguments, incorporating textual evidence, and developing critical interpretations. Providing guidance on essay planning, drafting, and revision.Instructing students in the analysis of language use in a variety of texts, including media articles, speeches, and advertisements.Facilitating class discussions, debates, and oral presentations to develop students' oral communication skills and critical thinking abilities.Planning and implementing strategies to prepare students for VCE English examinations, including the end-of-year exam (Units 3-4).Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.Collaborating with colleagues, including other VCE English teachers and faculty members, to share resources, strategies, and best practices for teaching VCE English effectively.Skills & Experience: Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration.Have unrestricted working rights in Australia.Demonstrate previous experience in teaching VCE English.Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).Offering: Commencing as a full-time position in Term 1, 2025.Terrific school facilities.Instructing VCE students in both years 11 and 12.Engaging with accessible and transparent leadership.Contributing to the planning and coordination of the English faculty.Salary commensurate with demonstrated expertise and time commitment.The School: Around 900 students spanning year 11 and 12.5 minutes walk from public transport/train.Excellent facilities.An approachable management team and smaller team structures facilitating effective planning and support.Abundant opportunities for professional development.How to apply: To apply, follow the link provided or apply on our website.
